TIERRA del Fuego
SEA RUN BROWN TROUT
Season: Jan-Mar
Fly Fishing for the Biggest Brown Trout in the World

The newest sea run brown trout operation is on the Irigoyen River, in the Tierra del Fuego region. It's a totally different approach to catching the giant sea run browns. You don't have to use double handed splay rods, nor cast into the wind all day. 6 to 8 weight rods are the norm.
You're casting to structure in pools that hold trout in the 20 to 25 pound category. You can expect exciting runs, and yes Martha, these browns jump! The guides are excellent, not only experienced here but spend the rest of their season in Russia or Iceland. The lodge only accommodates 6 rods so you won't be crowded.
The camp is at the end of the road, I mean the very end, next stop Cape Horn about 70 clicks. The lodge has three bedrooms, and a nice dining/lounge area, and even internet via satellite. Great food, accompanied by fine wines, and big fish, what a winning combination!
